Tessera Privacy

This page describes what Tessera, the add-on for 3D export from Archicad, does with data. For bimover’s website, account, sign-in and payment, see the general Privacy Policy. Where the two could be read differently, this page wins for Tessera.

The short version: the building model and the files Tessera writes stay on your computer, and bimover never receives them. Tessera sends us what signing in and checking the licence need. The only addition is the question about a new version, when you ask it (section 5).

1. Controller and contact

bimover GmbH, Hammer 19, 5000 Aarau, Switzerland. UID CHE-132.862.302. Email: privacy@bimover.ch

2. What stays on your computer

Tessera reads the 3D model of the open project and writes it to the file and format you choose in the Publisher. None of it goes to bimover, neither the model nor the exported files, their names, layers and surfaces or the names of projects.

Besides that, Tessera keeps:

  • The settings per format in the Publisher Set, that is in the project file.
  • The live snapshot, if you use it: a file with the model and its settings next to it, on the Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/bimover/LiveBlender, on Windows in %APPDATA%\bimover\LiveBlender. Tessera writes it when you ask for it, after every change to the model if you switch that on in the palette, and when another program on your computer asks for it through Archicad’s interface. Programs on your computer read it from that file; Tessera sends it nowhere.
  • A log for support at ~/Library/Logs/bimover/Tessera.log, on Windows at %LOCALAPPDATA%\bimover\Logs\Tessera.log. Tessera sends it nowhere; if support needs it, you send it yourself.
  • The sign-in, while you are signed in: the session of your bimover account, the proof of your licence and the identifier and private key of this device, on the Mac in the keychain, on Windows encrypted for your Windows account.

3. Signing in

Tessera uses the bimover account; there is no separate Tessera account. If you export, request a live snapshot or switch it on in the palette without being signed in, Tessera starts signing in: it fetches a code from bimover for this and, in doing so, sends what is listed below, before you open the browser. Otherwise, as long as you are not signed in, Tessera sends bimover nothing, unless you look for a new version (section 5).

You sign in with a code. Tessera shows it and, when you press the button, opens the page bimover.ch/anmelden/code; there you sign in with Apple or Microsoft and approve or decline the sign-in. What we store for it is described in the general Privacy Policy.

When Tessera starts signing in, it sends bimover:

  • an identifier of this device and the public part of a key Tessera creates for it; the private part stays on your computer;
  • the platform, that is Mac or Windows, the version of Tessera and which app is signing in.

Tessera does not send a device name: it is often the computer’s real name. If you cancel signing in, Tessera no longer collects it; we delete the entries as the general Privacy Policy describes for signing in with a code.

4. Checking the licence

Signed in, Tessera renews the session from time to time and asks our server whether your office has assigned you a Tessera licence. The session, a proof carrying the public key of this device and the identifier of the app go along, and, as with any request on the internet, your IP address. The answer says whether the licence is valid and until when.

Whoever runs your office at bimover buys your licence and assigns it to you. For that, we store which member of the office holds which licence and since when, and those who run the office can see it. At renewal, the assignment counts, not whether anything was exported with Tessera (section 5.4 of the Terms); we do not learn what you export. Purchase and payment are described in the general Privacy Policy.

The legal basis for signing in and checking the licence is performance of the contract for your account and licence (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR); see also section 12 of the general Privacy Policy.

5. Looking for a new version

Tessera looks for a new version only when you choose “Check for Tessera Updates…” in the menu; that menu item exists on the Mac. Tessera then loads the list of versions from www.bimover.ch. If you choose the new version, Tessera downloads it from GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA), where Tessera’s versions are kept. Both requests come from your computer and contain what any request on the internet contains, including your IP address and the time, but neither your account nor anything about the project. GitHub’s own privacy statement applies to GitHub.

6. No usage statistics

Tessera has no usage analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting to bimover and no tracking. Tessera does not count which formats you export.

7. Signing out and deleting your account

Signing out in the Tessera menu ends the session at bimover as well and removes it and the proof of your licence from your computer.

You delete your bimover account on the website, see Delete your bimover account. The account applies to every bimover app you sign in to with it. If you own an office in which others still work, or if an office that would be dissolved with the account has an unpaid invoice, the page tells you what to do first.

8. How long we keep data

We keep account, sessions, devices and licences as described in section 11 of the general Privacy Policy. Tessera reports nothing to us that would have to be kept beyond that.

9. Your rights

The section on your rights in the general Privacy Policy applies here too: access, rectification, erasure, objection and complaint to the competent supervisory authority. Write to privacy@bimover.ch.
